This Weekend: Indie Emporium

The Indie Emporium is an annual art/craft/fashion show held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I have always wanted to go the show, but haven't had the chance to sadly :( Every year it gets bigger and better! This year they have even added an Instagram Art Gallery sponsored by the kind folks at Hatch Craft.

I'm honored to be a 2012 Indie Emporium Artist this year!  One of my Instagram photos will be displayed in their Instagram Art Gallery and I also will have some prints for sell at Made's booth! Unfortunately, I won't physically be there since I'm in Alabama, but my happy prints will be on display for you all to see and purchase...maybe even a few new prints! I also believe a few of my crafting friends will be there selling their wares, so go out and support them this Friday and Saturday and have an indie good time while you're at it!

New 2013 Air Mail Calendar in The Shop!

I'm so excited to show you guys my new calendar! It's inspired by my love for airmail and meant to slightly resemble a vintage post card. I had a lot of fun coming up with this idea. They are in the SHOP and now is the perfect time to get one! Perfect fix for those of you with a fondness in your heart for Europe like me :) Hope you all love it as much as I do.

Autumn is Here!

Whipped this up yesterday on the official first day of Fall because I'm so excited it's here! If you've been following me for a while, you might know Fall is my favorite season. The cool crisp air and the fact that I get to wear sweaters, the pumpkins, apple cider, and all the festivities this time of year just rejuvenate me! Don't they you?

Well here in Gulf Shores, AL it's still fairly warm! I'm begging the weather to get the memo that Fall is officially here...so bring on the cool air! Soon enough it will be here I guess! We're taking a week trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains at the end of October so we'll really get to experience all the beautiful colors of autumn!! So excited for it!

Have you guys seen any signs of Fall where you are?

Have a Happy Week!

XO, Rhi

Our Journey to Asheville

Hello! Long time no see blog friends! This video will show you the road trip we took as we made our big move across the country! We made stops in Jefferson, TX, Nashville, TN, Asheville, NC (of course), and a tour through Georgia, then finally reaching our home for the next few months, Gulf Shores, AL.

The stranger in the cowboy hat is a very close friend of my husband and I, Mike Schikora. He was actually my husband's Best Man in our wedding! He is a country singer/songwriter and we had the pleasure of starting off our trip with him and meeting his producer family the Bonaguras. You might have heard Alyssa Bonagura's song "I Make My Own Sunshine" on a recent Lowe's commercial. We had an amazing time at their home/recording studio singing, dancing, and making dinner together. Such a cool experience! Also got to take a tour of Nashville through the eyes of our friend Mike who used to work down Music Row at RCA. Even though he had never seen the show American Pickers, we dragged him along with us to their Nashville Antique Archaeology store and he loved it. I was so happy to finally go and it was so cool seeing things the guys have picked on the show in person in the store.

We left our buddy behind and headed through the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina until we reached Asheville, our future home! Couldn't be more excited to be there for a little while at least. Spent a few days to move the majority of our stuff into storage and also just to relax. Even made a connection with a store downtown to sell my work in, so quite a successful stay! Then we headed through the beautiful state of Georgia, stopping in Stone Mountain, Helen, Dahlonega, and Juliette (where the movie Fried Green Tomatoes was filmed). We even ate at the Whistle Stop Cafe and had the famous fried green tomatoes! They were delish!

Finally we reached our home for the moment, Gulf Shores, AL. Staying with my mother-in-law only a mile away from the beach. Not a bad temporary home :) I do feel a bit like a gypsy right now! Living out of a suitcase without a real home, but that will make having a place even sweeter. We have a BIG show coming up Oct. 11-14, the 41st annual National Shrimp Festival. Sounds funny, but it has a huge following and very popular for its art vendors as well as Gulf Coast seafood. The hubby and I have plenty of work to keep us busy, and we are loving every minute of it. Here's to picking up and following our passion!
